So we’ve done the hard work for you – here are eight exciting WA holiday destinations perfect for you (and your dog) next local getaway. Always remember to follow the rules and keep your dog on a leash.

The coastal town of Cervantes is full of things to do, whether it’s on the water or on a land excursion. Don’t worry, there are plenty of local activities that your dog will enjoy as much as you.

For starters, head to one of Cervantes’ many dog-friendly beaches. Stop at Hanson Bay, a 1.6-mile stretch of sand and water. Walk your dog on the sand and cool off in the crystal blue waters of the bay. There are other beaches in Cervantes and nearby Jurien Bay, so it’s a good idea to check these out before you head out.

When it’s time for “others,” the Turquoise Way Trail is one of the best dog walks in town. The 14.2km route takes you past Jurien Bay Jetty and Dobbin Park and offers plenty of rest stops for you or your pup to grab a drink or enjoy the panoramic ocean views. If your dog needs to burn off some extra energy, keep an eye out for designated dog exercise areas along the trail.

For dining, look no further than the excellent Lobster Shack. The team at this Cervantes establishment has been catching Cervantes shrimp (or crayfish) for over 20 years, and there’s a special dog-friendly picnic area where you can feast on this local delicacy. If you’re not a fan of seafood, try Cervantes Bar & Bistro, where you can enjoy local Australian cuisine while your dog relaxes in the beer garden.

Dog Friendly Holidays Wa

Located in WA’s peaceful South West region, Albany is a beautiful holiday destination full of walking trails, restaurants, beaches and dog-friendly attractions.

If your dog needs to work off some energy, try the Luke Pan Walk on the banks of the Culgan River. The 14.4km return journey takes you through a mix of mangroves and agricultural fields and offers spectacular views. And if you can skip the summer, there are great places to swim where the trail gently descends to river level.

If you want to swim at the beach, there are several options for walking your dog. Nanaru Beach and Rashi Point are popular beach options, while the Emu Point Marina Beach and Middleton Beach sections are great places to take your dog for a walk in the water. Emu Point is a good choice for small dogs as it is shallow and well protected from the waves.

If you want to explore more remote areas, visit the Albany Wind Farm, one of the largest wind farms in the country. The farm’s sandy beach area and dog-friendly boardwalk are free and perfect for spotting right whales and humpback whales in May and October. The farm is 15 minutes from the town center and there is plenty of parking once you arrive.

There are many options for dog-friendly accommodation throughout the city, including chalets, cottages, lodges, campsites and guesthouses. If you’re close to the city centre, pop into the stylish Six Degrees Bar and Restaurant for stunning ocean views. The popular Café Dylan in Terre is another local spot with a dedicated dog area.

The seaside town of Busselton is a hub for families visiting during the school holidays and is a popular holiday destination for families with dogs.

Because they are protected from the large herds of Cape naturalists, Busselton’s abundant beaches are fairly flat and quiet. Dogs are allowed on Busselton Beach strips and West Beach, Margaret Street Beach and Centennial Park foreshore (to name a few). There are areas where dogs are not allowed (including the popular Busselton Jetty Beach), so do your research before letting your dog in the water.

After you dry off, visit one of the area’s beautiful art galleries. If you want to make a day of it, visit Swallow’s Welcome Art Studio and see the amazing work of local watercolor artist Patricia Negus. After exploring the various exhibits, enjoy a picnic (there’s a wood-fired barbecue) and relax in the shade of the gum trees outside the gallery.
