Are there activities in the area that you and your dog can enjoy together?

Places To Visit In New England During Summer
Burlington, Vermont is one of the most dog-friendly places in New England. With incredible outdoor adventures and a downtown location, Burlington is as much a playground for dogs as it is for their companions. You will find lots of fun things to do with your pup. Bike the Burlington Greenway along the shores of Lake Champlain, then stop for a local brew at one of the city’s many dog-friendly breweries. Burlington brewpubs that allow pups on the patio include Foam Brewers and Zero Gravity Craft Brewery, while spots like Switchback Brewing Co also allow dogs inside. One of New England’s most popular (and dog-friendly) pedestrian malls, Church Street Marketplace has many dog-friendly restaurants and shops. If you’re pet-friendly, Made Inn Vermont, a quaint bed and breakfast close to downtown, offers you and your dog a cozy home away from home.
When the dog days of summer arrive, there’s no better place for your dog than Cape Cod! With miles of scenic coastline, irresistible charm and countless outdoor activities, Cape Cod is the perfect summer destination for people and dogs alike. You’ll especially enjoy a visit to Cape Cod National Seashore. Sandy beaches and sunny trails and paths allow dogs to be ridden even in the hot summer. Then quench your thirst at Provincetown Brewing Company. They’re so dog-friendly (and socially conscious) that there’s a dog sign in the beer garden that says, “I’ll bite racists.” There are also many pet-friendly places to stay on the Cape. Leash your leash at the upscale Chatham Bars Inn or try “cuddle” with your dog at Nickerson State Park Campground.

Visit Cape Elizabeth, Maine for a relaxing beach vacation with your dog. Just five miles south of Portland, it’s a great place to get away from it all without going too far. Just south of Fort Williams State Park, home of the famous Portland Head Light, is a wide open grassy area where dogs can run and play. Of course, you can’t visit Maine without trying the local lobster roll, and the Bite into Maine park has an outdoor food truck with pet-friendly picnic tables. Higgins Beach is a popular place for pups to frolic in the sand and splash in the water. After a long day of fun in the sun, relax at Inn by the Sea, a luxury beach resort that offers the ultimate in pampering for pets and their owners.
Best Weekend Getaways In New England
You and your dog will love exploring Nantucket together. This small island off the coast of Cape Cod has almost no traffic lights and no New England charm. It’s clear right after the ferry ride that Nantucket is a welcoming place for travelers with dogs, where you’ll see other pet owners along the way. Choose from a variety of dog-friendly activities, from hiking Sconset Bluff to exploring historic buildings. The city is home to several dog-friendly patios, including breakfast joint Black-Eyed Susan and American Bistro Queequeg. Sit back and relax at Brass Lantern Inn’s peaceful bed and breakfast, where four-legged friends are welcome in select rooms in individually priced rooms.
This dog-friendly town in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom is a must-see. Known as the Ski Capital of the East, Stowe attracts visitors from near and far each winter to its top attractions. But with plenty of outdoor activities any time of year, Stowe is the perfect place to relax with your dog.
For the more adventurous, Smuggler’s Notch State Park offers miles of hiking trails through a beautiful section of the Green Mountains. For something simpler (but just for fun), you and your dog will love walking the Stowe Recreational Trail. This 11km paved trail is lined with dog-friendly restaurants and breweries along the way. There are also plenty of dog-friendly places to stay in the area to suit every budget. Luxury resorts such as the Trapp Family Lodge, Topnotch Resort and The Lodge at Spruce Peak provide pet amenities. However, if you’re looking for something more affordable, consider staying with your dog at Field Guide Lodge or The Stowehof.

Halibut Point State Park is a coastal park with granite outcrops, nearly three miles of trails, and expansive views. The area also has a visitor center and a lighthouse tower.
Halibut Point is one of our favorite spots in Massachusetts. The trail starts in the forest and passes through the quarry before reaching the tower. We never miss an opportunity to take a picture on top of the tower before appreciating the unusual geological features of the ore.
The trail winds around the mine and offers plenty of opportunities to stand on the rock and take in the spectacular views.

One of New England’s most recognizable landmarks is the Covered Bridge. Originally built to protect the deck from harsh New England winters, the covered bridge has a distinctive look.
