Obviously you need to actually create the bag to determine this, but you need to test how much water comes out of the bag over a period of time. This depends on the size of the needle you are using.
To test your drainage rate, make a bag with a rod, then fill it with water and place it on a measuring cup with the rod pointing down. Wait an hour, then see how much water drips into the cup. Multiply this by 24 hours to find out how much water the bag will deliver in one day.

If that’s not enough, you can add more wicks to the bag. As long as you use the same needle, you can double, triple, etc., the flow rate in a very consistent manner.
Tie both ends of the thread together with a fairly large knot (ie tie two or three times in the same location.) The plastic of our bags is quite soft, and the small knots sometimes slip through the holes made by the needle.
The thread will be used as a wick to draw water from the bag through the hole made by the needle.
Note that threads are NOT optional; the water flow rate becomes very erratic if you don’t have a wick to hold the hole open.
Tools For Watering
I like to place the Wick near the bottom of the bag, centered, but also through one of the flat sides of the bag. That way, I can put the wick directly into the plant soil when the bag is full of water.
It’s important that you don’t accidentally poke an extra hole in the bag when you move the needle down, so I recommend pressing the tip of the needle flat against your finger (as shown in the first picture) before you move. it. hand in bag
