Dog Friendly Vacation Spots In Texas

Dog Friendly Vacation Spots In Texas – One of the most common questions I get is if the places I visit around Texas are dog friendly! So I teamed up with my friends at Hipcamp to showcase some of our pet friendly spots near Austin. And if you’re new to Hipcamp, you can sign up here to get $10 off your first stay!

One of my favorite things about Hipcamp is that they actually have a “pets allowed” filter that you can use when looking for places to camp and visit on their website or app. This makes finding pet-friendly glamping easy!

Is this the best place to see treehouses in Texas? Located near Bastrop in Paige, Texas, the Hobbit’s Nest Treehouse is a true escape to the woods. As you might expect, the property is Lord of the Rings themed and has lots of little decorative touches that bring the Shire to life.

Galveston Island: A Dog Lover’s Paradise

And best of all, they’re one of the most dog-friendly places you’ll ever find. In fact, the owners live nearby and their two dogs roam the property and probably come to the woodshed to say hello!

There is no wifi, but there is a grill, a toilet, a shower and a small fridge, so I recommend cooking on site and really relaxing. The sounds of nature here are also top notch, especially with their ‘frog chorus’ which can be heard from the beautiful pond overlooking the tree house.

This fashionable luxury hotel is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country in the suburb of Dripping Springs. Options at Lucky Arrow Retreat ($10 off Hipcamp for new users) include yurts, cabins, and porches, depending on the size of your party and the experience you’re looking for. If you really want to admire, yurts like the one pictured below are the best option for you.

Each can accommodate up to two guests and has access to a nearby communal sauna. For something more hotel-like, there are Courtyard Cabins, Breezeway Cabins and Porch Houses, each of which sleeps up to four guests and has its own bathroom.

Although this property is dog and cat friendly, there is a $150 pet fee, which you can pay when you book at Hipcamp checkout (which also guarantees you’ll be staying in a pet-friendly room).

If you’ve ever wanted to sleep in a converted shipping container, the FlopHouze Shipping Container Hotel in Round Top, TX is what you’ve been looking for. Sit around the fire pit and enjoy great stargazing, take a dip in their container pool and head into town to shop for lots of antiques.

If you want to have a really good time, book a stay during the Round Top Antique Fair (just book early because people come from all over the world for it!). And yes, pets are allowed for free!

The Reserve at Greenleaf is located near Bastrop and has four luxury yurts to choose from. If you’re bringing your pet, their pet-friendly yurt is The Copper Lily ($10 off Hipcamp for new users).

The yurt sleeps up to 4 guests and offers amenities such as a full private bathroom and access to miles of hiking trails. They even offer a guided tour at the box office for $25. They also have things like kayak rentals if you want!

Ranch 3232 offers unique Texas Hill Country living with cabin rentals, air-conditioned camping tents, RVs, campsites and even a gypsy wagon ($10 off Hipcamp for new users). This property is also conveniently located in Johnson City, just 1.5 miles from Pedernales Falls State Park, making it ideal if you want to walk and explore the State Park during your stay.

My favorite is the Bird House, their little carriage house, although I would only recommend it for solo stays (+dog). It is quite small! But if you’re looking for something bigger, cabins are a great option. At the time of writing, their tents do not allow dogs.

It’s always best to check which rooms at each location allow pets, as sometimes not all rooms in a property are and policies can change!

The Best Dog Friendly Glamping Near Austin, Texas

Located on Lake Bastrop, GLAT Austin offers luxury safari-style glamping tents that sleep 3-6 guests depending on tent chosen ($10 off Hipcamp for new users). They also have some cabins that have their own private hot tubs, in addition to other amenities like fireplaces in every room on the property.

Mystic Quarry in Canyon Lake, TX is the perfect place to stop if you want to go tubing in the summer! Their accommodations range from tiny houses, wings, beauty tents, and cabins to RVs and campsites ($10 off Hipcamp for new users). You can relax by the pool, float in the nearby Guadalupe River, see a concert at the Whitewater Amphitheater, or spend the day at Canyon Lake.

If you filter by pets allowed, you’ll see that they have a wide range of accommodations for dogs, such as their safari lodges (my favorite), their premium cottages, and some lodges.

One of my favorite things about Mystic Quarry? They sit on 10 acres and offer fun amenities like beach volleyball, lawn games, a community pool, walking trails, bocce court, dog pond and dog parks and more. You can read more about their dog policy here.
