God forbid something happens to your child, but it never hurts to be prepared. I always make sure I have contact information for the nearest clinic in case of an emergency, and I suggest you do the same.
Long story short, Vacasa sent me a box of summer travel essentials, and I wanted to show off my new jewelry. Here’s what I got: new baseball cap, travel journal + pen, reusable straw (!!!!!) plus new water bottle, luggage tag and laptop case. I’m excited… but I think Daisy is more excited than me.

Everyone looks forward to summer vacation, but now that it’s officially time to book a trip, it can also be a time of stress and anxiety for pet owners. Recent studies show that 37% of dog owners don’t travel because they don’t want to leave their fur pups behind. The thought of leaving your baby behind can be upsetting and guilty, but having a pet doesn’t mean you have to put your life on the line instead of booking a trip.
While many choose to plan their trip by researching dog-friendly hotels and bringing their dog, this isn’t always an option for some families. Furbabies with nervous personalities can be triggered by sudden changes in location and long car rides. International travel makes it more difficult for dogs. With that in mind, the team at Pets a Go Go share their top tips for making sure your pet is well looked after while you’re on holiday because you deserve worry-free travel.
Prepare a care plan. Before booking a trip, make sure your favorite pet sitter is available when you’re away. Once this is established, invite this person into your home before leaving to learn more about your dog’s daily routine and build trust between your fubaby and pet. Seeing a familiar face when you’re not around helps the dog adjust to not being around. Write a checklist for your pet sitter detailing the feeding plan, any medical restrictions, and your veterinarian’s phone number in case of an emergency.

Invest in pet-friendly technology. Just because you’re outside doesn’t mean you can’t talk to your pet! There are now many options for indoor cameras designed with pet owners in mind. Not only do these cameras let you see what your pet is doing, but they also let you talk to your pet through a speaker and some even let you deliver food through an app !
Update your dog’s tag and microchip. If you live in an apartment or house without a fence inside there is a bad chance that your pet will stray, especially if your dog is only used to listening to your commands. It’s important to make sure your dog’s ID tag is displayed on their collar and their microchip is up to date so the good guys know where your fubaby is when they find them.
“Puppy proof” your home. Just as you protect your home for a teething dog, you should do the same for any dog that may be left alone for long periods of time or stressed by your absence. Chewing is a result of separation anxiety, so it’s important to keep anything dangerous out of your baby’s reach to avoid risks to your baby’s health and protect your belongings from damage.
Consider boarding your dog. One surefire way to keep your dog safe while you’re away is to leave it with a pet care professional. This will allow your dog constant attention from the loving staff and the interaction of other playful dogs. Some boarding facilities will post regular photo updates on their social media so you can see how happy your child is!
