But did you know that there are restaurants inside the hotel and you can leave your pets on vacation?
Disney World has always shown great animal care. The Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground had a turkey when it opened in 1971, and Disney later added turkeys to each of the four theme parks.

But by the early 2000s, Disney was willing to outsource the work. Best Friends Animal Care took over the Disney Kennels in 2008 and opened its own facility in 2010 on Disney property in Lake Boa Vista, Florida.
The Best Friends Pet Hotel is now a one-stop shop for boarding, grooming and other services under the Disney brand.
Insider spoke with Best Friends Pet Hotel Co-Operators Ray Clennell and Le Reynoso about the hotel, the animals they care for and the services they provide.
Clennel has been with Best Friends Pet Care for 10 years and Reynoso for 16 years.

“It used to be that you would drop off your dog and we would take care of them with walks, food and water, but no extra measures — nothing to beautify or improve their condition,” Reynoso said of Disney’s past.
But the hotel has many facilities and activities, he said. You can send your energy to dog camp, book grooming sessions for your cat, pet sit, and more.

It was a “slow day” for the hotel, the insider told Clennell and Reynoso. However, the facility has more than 100 animals.

“We should have 110 pets by the end of today, which is very, very slow for us,” Kleinel said.
Reynoso noted that 20 of those bookings were made by evacuees from Tampa, Florida.
“We’re also a hurricane shelter, so when there’s a threat of hurricanes this time of year, we can set up these shelters and double the shelter,” he said.
Reynoso says these pocket pets often include rabbits, sugar bunnies, squirrels, “a lot of birds” and turtles. On several occasions he was also asked to take care of the Betta fish.

“We have a turtle that Mr. Bubbles visits seven times a year,” Reynoso said. “He’s wonderful.”
The potted pigs are “always” on the property, Reynoso said, and the ducks are regular visitors.
“We have a lady who brings in five ducks every year,” Clennell said. “They took over one of our club rooms and laid eggs everywhere.”
Reynoso said hotel staff can care for any “non-venomous” animal except primates. People are asking to bring exotic animals “all the time,” he said.

“We’ve got tarantulas, cockroaches — really, really crazy stuff,” he said. “Someone asked us to take out a zebra and bring it with them during the storm.”
“Sometimes people try to bring these pets into the parks,” Reynoso said, “so we got a call from Disney saying, ‘Hey, this lady wants to bring her baby kangaroo to Animal Kingdom.’ What? He goes to Animal Kingdom. ‘how do we communicate with them?
