If you want to travel with your dog in Queensland but don’t have your own motorhome or camping tent, there is another great option. Stay in pet-friendly cabins, usually located in RV parks. Although unfortunately many cabins are not pet friendly, I have found a variety of pet friendly cabins in Queensland, from the southern part of the state to northern Queensland.

South Queensland’s Granite Belt wine region is an ideal dog-friendly destination, including the central town of Stanthorpe. Town Top Tourist Park, located on the edge of town, offers pet owners a variety of lodging options, including affordable pet-friendly cabins.
Best Pet Friendly Caravan Parks On The Gold Coast
Pets are allowed in some standard cabins. Each studio cabin sleeps four, with a double bed and a pair of bunk beds, as well as a kitchen and bathroom. There are also some pet-friendly family cabins, often with a queen-size bed and a wood-burning heater in a separate bedroom.
The park is a short walk from the town center and has a swimming pool, games room, covered barbecue area and plenty of space to walk dogs in the surrounding bushland.
If you’d rather hit the beach than holiday with your dog in Queensland, Karra Beach Tourism Park on the Gold Coast is a dog-friendly caravan park. Just steps from the beach (and a short drive to Palm Beach’s off-leash dog beach), dogs are allowed year-round at select locations and their great pet-friendly cabanas.
Two of the spacious two-bedroom cabins have been designed as dog cabins. Each cabin’s balcony is enclosed and surrounded by pet-proof netting, perfect for relaxing while dining and perhaps having a BBQ on the balcony. Inside there are two bedrooms with capacity for four people, a kitchen and a bathroom with a dishwasher.

Please note that generally only one small dog is allowed per booking and they must be up to date on their vaccinations. There is an additional flat cleaning fee of $32. The park also has a self-service dog wash and pet water fountain, next to a comfortable grass area.
Another great dog friendly caravan park on the Gold Coast is the BIG4 Gold Coast Holiday Park. The park is the most dog-friendly caravan park on the Gold Coast, with a huge fenced off-leash dog park with agility equipment, a DIY dog wash known as the Puppy Palace and kennels.
Dogs are welcome in at least 20 of the park’s cabins. Pet-friendly options include Studio Cozy Cottages, Cozy Cottages, Two-Bedroom Cottages, Two-Bedroom Family Cottages, Two-Bedroom Bungalows and Terraces, sleeping 2 to 6 people. Pets are not allowed in motel rooms or in some of the larger villas. If you are not sure, check with the park or their website.
You can bring up to two calm and well-behaved dogs with you at no extra cost, but advance booking is required. Be sure to inform the park when booking that you will be bringing a pet with you and bring their vaccination documents.
Nrma Treasure Island Holiday Park Resort, Gold Coast Review
North Stradbroke Island is one of the most dog-friendly islands on the Queensland coast, with pets allowed on ferries, off-leash beaches and on island beaches. A classic option is camping on the beach, which is only accessible by 4×4 vehicles, but there are also pet-friendly cabins in North Stradbroke.
Book your stay at Sea Shanties at Amity Point on the northern tip of the island. Five of the eight cabins are pet-friendly, and well-behaved dogs are welcome. Stylishly decorated cabins can accommodate 2 to 6 guests, each with its own kitchen and bathroom.
While the homes have ocean or garden views, all homes have access to the ocean along the property, including an outdoor oceanfront kitchen and barbecue area.
Great Sandy Strait is just a three-hour drive north of central Brisbane, but it’s a world away from the city, especially when you’re staying at the peaceful and relaxing Puna Palms Holiday Park.

The park welcomes pets to stay with you year-round, at management’s discretion, either on electric grounds or in pet-friendly cabins. Choose from two- or three-bedroom pet-friendly cabins and villas in the park; ask directly which ones are available and be sure to mention you are bringing a pet when booking.
