Dog Friendly Resorts Palm Springs – Palm Springs, California is located about 100 miles east of Los Angeles, in the Coachella Valley region of the Sonoran Desert. Palm Springs has been a popular destination for many years, known for its natural hot springs, hotels, restaurants, golf courses, sunshine, and of course, dog love.

Downtown Palm Springs continues to grow, with new shops, restaurants, hotels and neighborhoods being built, such as the North End that has become the Uptown Design District. The annual Coachella and Stagecoach festivals draw attention to desert cities, and the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January draws big names and crowds of visitors.

“Greater Palm Springs” includes eight cities outside of Palm Springs: Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, La Quinta, Indio, and Coachella. Tourism is the country’s biggest contributor to the local economy. I recommend staying in Palm Springs and exploring these other cities by car. Palm Desert is an outdoor mall and Indio/Coachella is a great place for photos and if you’re going to a festival (without your dog).

A Doggone Good Vacation In Greater Palm Springs

We’ve been to dog-friendly places, and when I say Palm Springs is the most dog-friendly city we’ve ever visited, I mean it! It’s hard to explain, but there’s a sense of adventure where we went with Robbie and we hope that comes through in this comprehensive guide.

The weather in Palm Springs is good all year round, but there is one time that is considered the best to visit: winter and early spring. Palm Springs feels special in the winter months, from November to January, because while the rest of the country experiences cold and snow, Palm Springs puts on a show with sun and temperatures from 65 to 75 degrees.

When traveling to Palm Springs with your dog, I wouldn’t recommend visiting after March. Unless your only plan is to stay at the pool the entire time during your visit. Temperatures range from 100°F to 115°F, with humidity less than 10%.

Staying in Palm Springs and its desert areas is a beautiful place and one of my favorite things to do when visiting this city. I’m a big fan of mid-century architecture and the beauty of the desert, so I’m in heaven when I rent hotels and apartments to explore this area.

The Morten Botanical Garden is a private arboretum created to share the beauty and amazing flora of the desert with all who visit. Unique trees, plants and desert cacti come from all over the world and range in size from small to giant. They offer the world’s first cactus, my favorite part of the park, and allow dogs to roam around the park.

The park parking lot is on the corner opposite the S Palm Canyon Dr entrance. Admission is $5 per person and dogs are free. This small park can be visited in 30 minutes by walking around the property. We stayed here for a while because my photo was taken by the cactus. If you visit during the week, you’ll be lucky with less or less crowds.

The unique thing about Southern California are the wind farms. They have an official tour of Palm Springs to see them up close, but I don’t know if they allow dogs. We choose to explore ourselves.

To see the photo shown below, go to Indian Canyon Drive and Garnett on I-10. If you are driving north on Indian Canyon, turn left on Garnett and go about a quarter of a mile until you see several places to park. There is little or no traffic in this area, so as long as you don’t block the main road, you can park wherever you want to shoot.

I hope to go into the sunset. The desert really shines at sunset with its heavenly cotton fabric, but the sun hides behind the mountains early in the morning, so make sure to arrive before sunset. There are fences around the turbines, but they don’t stand out much against the backdrop of the mountains and shady trees in the area. You have to agree.

You may have seen some of these houses on Instagram with their beautiful gardens and windows. The best way to enjoy these buildings is to park and walk the streets. I especially liked the houses south of Yosemite and south of Camino Real.

The dog-loving spirit is alive and well in downtown Palm Springs. It is a vibrant center filled with shops, restaurants and unique art. Many people came to us and expressed how good they thought Ruby was, and all the customers immediately liked Ruby and wanted to give her drinks and gifts. If you follow us on social media, you know that Ruby has a strange case, but she quickly accepts the animals that are given to her.

There are many things to do in town and the main ones are on Palm Canyon Drive and Indian Canyon Drive. I think I just practice and go to interesting things. South Palm Canyon has more design and the northern part is more modern with a rebirth as the Uptown Design District.

Some of the stores on my list to visit: Ibis Women’s Store, Just Fabulous for Palm Springs souvenirs, Peepas, Out West Trading Co, Covet for permanent jewelry, and Destination PSP. Destination PSP has a mid-century home decor.
