If you want a hearty meal, consider getting takeout from a local restaurant and having a picnic with your dog. It’s a great way to relax surrounded by nature in one of the nine protected areas mentioned above. You can taste local cuisine without spending time with your dog: it’s a win!

When we think of Prince Edward County, we’re willing to bet that Sandbanks Provincial Park, with its sandy beaches and picturesque dunes, is the first thing that comes to mind. Although most parks are not open to pets, there are a few exceptions.
Dogs are welcome at Sandbanks Beach (also known as Richardson Beach) and the Outlet Beach area. These areas are full of beachgoers in the summer, so make sure your dog is well socialized and friendly before bringing him here. If they don’t get along well with strangers, children, and other dogs, it’s not the place for them.

Another option is Wellington Rotary Beach – a small rocky/sandy beach off the main street of Wellington. Dogs are welcome here on leash, but the same caveats as above apply: this is a busy area and your dog must be friendly and socialized before coming here.
Not everyone is a dog person (I know, we can’t even imagine) and that means there are certain rules pet owners need to follow when traveling with their four-legged friends.
When walking around town, be sure to clean up after your pets and dispose of trash properly. If you live in a pet-friendly property (more on that below), be aware that your dog will bark when you leave him at home alone, especially if you have neighbors next door.
