It was one of our best dog-friendly itineraries and we loved the town so much we went three times! Mendocino, a foggy coastal town, is extremely pet-friendly and is the gateway to California’s giant sequoias, as well as its siblings Ukiah and Willits.

Dog Friendly Guide To Palm Springs — Hellorubydoodle

Everyone who visits Napa Valley is St. In awe of the splendor of the rolling vineyards of St. Louis. Helena, Yountville and Healdsburg and then a few more north to the sleepy town of Calistoga. Once just a country town filled with farms, Calistoga is now a hot spot, both figuratively and literally, thanks to all the spas and mud baths there, thanks to the significant geothermal activity in the area.

Calistoga is also very dog-friendly, thanks to several pet-friendly accommodations like the Solage Resort (with a charming patio for al fresco dining) or the Calistoga Motor Lodge & Spa, where we stayed and loved it during our recent visit to Calistoga. Traveling

This perfect dog-friendly getaway has another secret, Old Faithful Geyser (there’s also a goat farm on site…what do you say?) that welcomes dogs. There are also dog-friendly wineries nearby where you can enjoy some good vintage wine tasting with your best friend! Add this sleepy wine village to your dog weekend getaway list and you won’t be disappointed!

Murphys is a charming little town in Calaveras County, California (aka between San Francisco and Stockton) that no one tells you about. That’s definitely a good thing, because not only is it a great weekend getaway with the dogs, but it also has some of the cheapest and most diverse wines you’ll find in California.

Fun Fact: Calaveras County was made famous by Mark Twain in his short story “The Celebrated Leaping Frog of Calaveras County,” so it’s no surprise that this small town is dotted with bull statues.

Babu and I stayed at the charming Courtwood Inn B&B for the weekend and explored downtown Murphy, just below Main Street, with its dog-friendly wine tasting rooms and restaurants.

Some of our notable pet-friendly restaurant visits included Alchemy Market and Cafe, Grounds, Aria Bakery (you have to try their delicious croissants and cookies), and V Restaurant and Bar. Alchemy also has live music on the covered patio, which was great for us when we visited on a particularly rainy weekend.

Downtown tasting rooms like Gossamer Cellars (they have a dog-friendly sign outside), Twisted Oak (their winery is famous for the weird signs that lead to the tasting room, so get there early), and Frog Teeth let you do something good. Old dog friendly tasting on the main road.

We also stopped at Chatham Winery (another dog-friendly winery in Murphy) for additional wine tasting since we had already toured the tasting rooms. The wine is a mix of reds, whites and sometimes sweet wines and is very affordable at $5-$10 for a tasting with no bottle purchase.

In addition to wine tasting, you can stroll through Murphy Community Park (with a pleasant babbling brook) or hike the 10.5-mile Arnold Rim Trail, popular in Calaveras County and featuring dog-friendly trails. In short, this laid-back town is perfect for a weekend getaway with the dogs.

Lodi, the Zinfandel capital of the world, is the best kept secret in California wine country. Dog or not, get inspired by Lodi’s world-renowned wineries, which offer stunning natural beauty and, even better, affordable wine at $8 per person. There are also several dog-friendly tasting rooms in downtown Lodi, and many of their restaurants welcome dogs on covered patios, all within easy walking distance of the charming dog-friendly cottage where we stayed.

It’s a great destination for a dog-friendly weekend getaway and has been one of our best dog trips ever! I highly recommend visiting the Toasted Toad cellars downtown, the Oak Farm vineyards and the Bokisch vineyards, famous for their Iberian wines.

Lodi Lake is a beautiful place to walk and don’t miss Smack Pie Pizza’s “Lodi’s Special Grape Pie”. Lodi is crazy about grapes and wine, and if wine tasting and natural beauty are your thing, you’ll have a great time there!

Enjoy Lodi with a luxury dog-friendly stay at Wine & Roses (they have an outdoor pool, spa, and upscale restaurant) or the ever-reliable Econo Lodge Inn & Suites or Holiday Inn Express.

Santa Cruz is a mix of hippie yoga and beach town that’s quintessentially California, but there’s more to this place than meets the eye. Many people in the Bay Area come to Santa Cruz for the crowded AF boardwalk (no dogs allowed and too noisy anyway) or the noisy and expensive beach view. However, there is another side to this city that is incredibly dog-friendly and peaceful.
